Hey everybody just thought I'd write a quick blog to update you on whats goin on in the world of BFMV. First and foremost my deepest and heartfelt apologies for havin to cancel/postpone the rest of our UK tour and the Dec run in the States, its hurtin me alot more than it is you beleive me!!! Im so sorry to let everybody down but Ive been ORDERED to rest my voice by my throat specialist, Ive been struggling vocally for a while now and the continued busy touring schedule and lack of down time between tours has just taken its toll on the old vocal cords. Basically whats happened is my vocal cords have become quite loose and tired instead of firm and strong and a couple of doses of tonsilitis and laryngitis very recently have not helped at all. Im currently resting up back home in Wales and taking speech therapy and vocal coaching once a week until my docs are happy with the progress. To everyone that has sent get well messages I thank you dearly for your support and understanding and I hope that your still all gonna come to the shows in the new year!!! To a minority that have sent pissed off messages, well all I can say is I apologise but my health takes priority over your evening out Im afraid, a footballer with a broken leg wouldnt go out and play a full game of soccer right?, its just not possible, well its the same thing here, just a sad shame some people dont understand that.
Anyways, check out Metal Hammer this month if you alreday haven,t, yours truly is on the cover!!! Thanks guys, have a great Xmas and we,ll finish business in the New Year Y,heard!!! Much love. Matt.

There's loads more but I better stop there!!! The main reason Im here is to let all our American fans know we're coming to destroy your town very fuckin soon with our stateside labelmates It Dies Today, its our first ever tour in the U.S.A and we cant wait to show you what we're made of. yo yo yo people!!
our first update on this thing, will try and keep it updated as often as possible,
thought id make a nice long 1 about our trip to japan for the summer sonic for you all.
basicly, all i can say is thank fuck we're still alive!!! we had the trip from hell, not really sure where to start but i'll give it a go. so we fly out to osaka the day after the kerrang day of rock right, well we try to, after taxiing down the runway getting ready to take off the pilot announces we have to go back as the flaps on one wing are basically fucked!! doh!!
flying is my ultimate fear and to know the aircraft is fucked doesn't help, so 3 hours later we finally take off, the flight itself sucked ass, 12 hours of constant turbulance and repeated nonsense on their entertainment system. we finally land and all seems to be cool, a load of fans waiting outside and make us feel really welcome which was awesome. that night we go out and get way beyond fucked up on sake and jager at rok rok bar, had a wicked time and hung out with the guys from billy talent, him, alexisonfire and fightstar.
after approx 1 hour sleep we have to get up for soundcheck which is a disaster we're all throwing up, spinning out and basically dying!! j can't remember how to play the bass and the soundonstage was pretty gay. we get back to the hotel a couple of hours later and to my horror i cant find my passport, panic stations erupt and my room gets totalled trying to find it but its nowhere to be seen, so then we visit the police station to report it lost which is not easy if you can't speak japanese, luckily enough nobu from bmg japan came along to help out and we get on the phone to the embassy to try and sort out a replacement asap. we all hit the sack early as the osaka show is the next day.
we all meet in th lobby around 9 am and moose looks like he's on the verge of dying!! he feels ok to do the show so we go for it. we hit the stage and the place erupts, it was amazing, the crowd we're so good and we played really well too which was the main thing. we come offstage and moose takes a turn for the worse, he passes out on a couch backstage throwing up, shivering, sweating and struggling to breathe, we start getting really worried about him now. we pack up our shit and hrad to the airport for the flight to tokyo, moose can just about manage to pull himself together for the flight and we arrive in tokyo an hour later. the flight was pretty funny though as it was full of bands, i've never seen so many rock stars in such a small space at the same time befrore!! it was well surreal.
we all go to bed exhausted from the day and jet lag is starting to kick in now too. we get the car to the festival at around 9 am with no moose, he can't even get out of bed. me and the rest of the crew get ready for the show fingers crossed that a miracle will happen and moose is gonna make it. the phone rings and our manager lets us know moose has just been rushed to hospital and the show will not be going ahead. we are all devastated, worried, upset and anxious. show time arrives so i walk onto the stage with an interpreter to let the fans know we won't be playing, it was a very upsetting moment as we really didn't know how moose was and how the crowd was going to react.
japanese people are the most respectful people on the planet and my short explanation of whats happening goes down well, people are clearly upset and as worried as we were and there were even some tears from some girls at the front row, the crowd bursts into applause as i walk off stage which was such an awesome show of respect and sympathy. myself and the boys carry on with the days relentless press, tv, radio interviews and wait for news of moose. we find out a few hours later he's back in the hotel sleeping after being on an iv for a few hours trying to reheydrate him, things seem to be looking up.
yeah right!! we go out parting that night with fightstar, drinking tokyo dry and having an awesome time until, j and metal dave (fs guitar tech) lock glasses in a macho cheers vibe, the glasses smashed everywhere cuting j's hand to shreds, metal dave also cut his wrist open which was close, beleive me. blood starts pouring everywhere and the amount of alcohol the vertically challend one has devoured is not helping as we're trying to patch him up and he's falling everywhere and his blood is thinner than water.
we stumble out at around five and get the train back to the hotel, metal dave and alex fight like fuck all the way home and at one point a bottle is thrown from one to the other but smashes me in the face giving me a black eye and a cut nose, tears stream from my eye and i cant see for half an hour. we get in to the hotel at 7am, my wake up call is at 7.70 am to go to the embassy to sort out my new passport!!! the day ahead does not look bright. even though i was in severe pain from the night before everything goes well at the embassy and my passport is sorted. we moved right into the centre of tokyo that day to into this beautiful high rise hotel, very posh, very comfortable but very fuckin high!!
the days press goes really well but we come back to find no moose, he's just been taken to hospital again as he seems to be getting worse, not cool. i go up to my room for a well deserved night of chillin, that don't happen as a huge monsoon hits, wind howls around the hotel, rain batters my window and the thunder and lightning was the most intense/extreme i've ever seen and heard, it was well scarey, after an hour it dies down and get to sleep. we all wake up to moose being back and he's actually up an about which is great as he was bed ridden for 3 days, he pops into my room to borrow a uk power adaptor when we here this creaking sound, i look out the window expecting to see some dude coming up on a winch to clean the window but there was no one there, then something just didn't seem right. i walk toward moose and im walking sideways!! i look at moose and he yells "earthquake!!!!" we walk out the room and by now the building is swaying so noticably from side to side and the sound of metal creaking is getting louder and louder, im not afraid to say that i fully crapped myself we were soooooo high up that if it was gonna come down we would have been fucked, we make a quick decision wether to stay or get the elevator and try and get ou, we get the elevator!!! we arrive in the lobby about 30 secs later ( which seemed like 3 fuckin days ) to see people under tables and under arches, thats when we knew this was pretty bad, things then suddenly stop, and panic dies down and everyone starts to use the phones but that wasn't the end of it, for around ten minutes after the big one aftershocks came one after the other giving me motion sickness, the floor just wouldn't stop moving it was well weird. we find out at the epicentre it was 7.2, which is big, real big!! thankfully no one was killed and the only damage was structural. the days press goes ahead as planned and the question if we felt the earthquake came up everytime!! that pretty much sums up our trip!!! we flew back yesterday and had no problems at all, moose is feeling way better and we all got home in one piece!!! it was an experience everybody!!! good to be home.
